Hi everyone! I just want to share to you how well I'm doing inside mommy's tummy. I'm about 26 weeks old and I have grown a lot since I came here.
Right now, I'm about two pounds now and is 14 inches in length. My wrinkled skin has started to smooth out as I start to put on some baby fats.
To support my growing body, my spine is getting stronger and more supple, though no longer than the span of the average adult hand, it is now made up of 150 joints, 33 rings, and some 1,000 ligaments.
Air sacs in the lungs form now, and my lungs begin to secrete a greasy substance called surfuctant. Without surfuctant, my lungs would stick together and would not expand after I am born.
Although they've been sealed shut for the last few months, my eyes are opening and beginning to blink this week. My retinas begin to work.
Brain wave activity for hearing and sight begins to be detectable. According to researches, if one will shine a light on mommy's abdomen at this time, my head will turn towards the light, because my optic nerves are starting to work.
Isn't that amazing?
Mom has definitely recovered from her surgery last month. She is now up and about so my parents both decided to stay in our Antipolo house for the mean time while mom is still on leave.
It's so nice to see our house again. Everything is still in order except for the plants in the garden. Most of them dried up because they were not watered regularly, plus the heat of the summer caused their leaves to fall off.
Home sweet home.
