17 Mar 08 Emergency Surgery

It's a tragic day today. Mom started experiencing severe abdominal pains early in the morning. Dada thought it was appendicitis, because the signs and symptoms are all indicative of such. The pain started at 230am and didn't disappear until morning so my dada decided to bring mom to the hospital.

In the ER, mom was diagnosed by the doctors as acute appendicitis, requiring emergency surgery. Mom was immediately brought to the operating room. When they opened her, they found the real cause of the pain - it was a twisted ovarian cyst. The surgeon removed it.

In the evening, mom recovered from anaesthesia. I'm glad she is now pain-free. Now, I have her abdomen to myself.

Thanks mom for being strong for me. Don't worry about me. I'm perfectly safe here.

And thanks God for helping my mom, and for keeping me safe from the surgery.

16 Mar 08 Another Milestone

Last night, I tried to make a lot of movements. Mom gets pretty excited when she feels me and I know it soothes her tiredness from the whole day of work and of carrying me. Mom told Dad to put his palm on her tummy so he would feel it too. And presto, Dad felt the thumps I was trying to do. I knew I made him happy too.

For me to be felt physically by another person other than my mom is another developmental milestone in my fetal life.

These are my first pictures. The first one was taken when I was about 9 weeks. The second pic was taken when I was about 13 weeks. The last shot is the most recent taken last feb 22 when I was about 18 weeks. As you can see, this is the first photograph of my face. I'm so cute...

13 Mar 08 Quickening

Do you want to know what gift I gave to my mom on her last birthday? I gave her what some people term as "quickening." On the night of her special day, I tried to move a lot for her so she could feel my presence. I knew she felt it and I knew I made her happy. Dad was told about it and he, too,felt the happiness.

Quickening is defined as the first time the mother feels the baby move. These are the first fetal movements felt by the mother-to-be, most commonly between the 16th and 20th week.

I knew I gave mom my best birthday present ever.

Happy Birthday, Mom.

Today is your first birthday that you are already a mother to me. And this is the only birthday of yours that I will be inside you, as you celebrate your day.

I wish you all the best, mom. I wish you good health and happiness always. Love you, Mom!

22 Feb 08 I'm a BOY!!!

Today, mom and dad went to The Medical City to have an ultrasound done on me. I'm on my fourth month, and they say that it is on this month where it is possible to know a baby's gender. Gosh, I was so excited to find out if I'm really Inigo.

The doctor who did the scan was very nice. She showed to my parents the different parts of my body, through the computer screen. She even counted te fingers on my hands and toes! I felt mom and dad's excitement as i tried to wave using my little fingers...

The most exciting part was when the doctor tried to check whether I am a boy or a girl. She found the sign and concluded that I am indeed a boy... that I am Inigo!!

I knew my parents got more excited to see me in person. I am, too!! I wanted to play, eat and sleep with you the whole day!
